Volunteer Appreciation “2026 Spring Summit”
Nourish LA is one of the proud recipients of the 2025 Halo Award. This award recognizes non-profit organization’s volunteer programs and volunteer management - celebrating everyday angels.
Our volunteers have been a pillar in our community and operational success since day one. They provide unmatched dedication and commitment consistently throughout all our programs year round! Through the Halo Award we were able to host our first Volunteer Summit designed to give back to them, uplift their service to the community, provide an opportunity to reconnect with earth, and with one-another.
The Spring Summit kicked off with lunch from our local supporters and partners - Hey Sunshine Kitchen, Sage Local, Lodge Bread, and Yerba Madre. Breaking Bread together is at the heart of our mission - ensuring food is plentiful and available to our community. It was fitting to start by enjoying this feast together with all 4 volunteer programs - Food Distribution, Food Recovery, Farmer’s Market Gleaning, and Good Karma Gardens. All the volunteers then enjoyed a full day of workshops. These included personalizing bandanas with plant-based dyes with Jusitne (@earthdipped), creating their own herbal salves with Natalie (@honeys_herbal_apothecary_), learning about seed saving with Azita (@dirtgirlscollective), and a moment of reflection creating vision boards for the year to come.
The day concluded with everyone coming back together as Kupala Yoga’s founders, April & Jess, lead the group in Yoga and a Sound Bath Meditation. The whole room was filled with positive energy, togetherness, and a calm peaceful atmosphere that was enjoyed by all. We were truly honored to have the opportunity to give back to those that have given so many hours of their time, days, and weekends with us. Thank you to all our Volunteers - we truly appreciate all that you do for Nourish LA!
