Distribution Coordinator (Line)

Position Overview

The Distribution Coordinator (Line) ensures a smooth, effective, and safe operation of the main food distribution line. This role focuses on managing inventory flow, overseeing line volunteers, and adapting distribution amounts in real-time to maximize efficiency and minimize food waste

This position reports directly to the Operations Director.
Primary Work Location: West Los Angeles

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Station Setup: Responsible for setting up the distribution station, including canopies, tables, pallets, and signage, ensuring line readiness for opening.

  • Inventory Receiving: Strategically direct incoming food from sorting station to the appropriate pallets and tables; unload food from garage refrigerators.

  • Distribution Management: Ensure continuous restocking of food items, adjust distribution amounts based on inventory, and verify incoming sorted boxes.

  • Volunteer Support: Train, supervise, direct, and support volunteers working the line, ensuring they understand their roles and receive necessary breaks. In addition, ensure health and safety protocols are followed.

  • Fair Distribution: Monitor volunteer shopping along the Line Section to ensure fair distribution and manage over-shopping.

  • Quality & Waste Control: Monitor the line to assure food integrity and ensure composting/recycling is accurately followed.

  • Closing & Clean-up: Lead the breakdown, cleaning, and proper storage of coolers, tables, pallets, and canopies.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to lead and supervise teams.

  • Ability to make quick, informed decisions during distribution.

  • Ability to work weekends (e.g., Sundays) for distribution events.

  • Experience volunteering at our food distribution drive (preferred).

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks including but not limited to, lifting 40 lbs, bending, standing for long periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. This role does not provide Visa Sponsorship.

Salary & Benefits

  • Part-Time: 8-15 hours per week

  • Pay Rate: $18 - $20 per hour
