Bookkeeper (All Programs)
Position Overview
The Bookkeeper supports the financial health and operational integrity of Nourish LA by maintaining accurate financial records, tracking income and expenses, supporting grant and donation reporting, and helping ensure transparency across all programs and community initiatives.
This position reports directly to the Technical Director.
Primary Work Location: Los Angeles
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities
Weekly Financial Operations: Manage accounts payable and receivable; Record and organize all financial transactions; Post and reconcile the general ledger and subsidiary accounts; Support payroll coordination, reimbursements, and contractor payments.
Monthly Financial Operations: Month-end close and reconciliation processes across bank accounts and payment platforms; Prepare financial summaries and reports; Track donations, grants, sponsorships, and program expenses; Coordinate with leadership regarding expenditures and allocations.
Quarterly Financial Operations: Assist with budgets and financial planning.
Annual Financial Operations: Assist with year-end reconciliation, financial summaries, reports, and tax preparation.
Administrative Support: Maintain receipts, invoices, and vendor records; Data management; provide ad-hoc reporting for accountant, treasurer, and donors.
Ad-Hoc Support: Grant reporting and compliance documentation; Monitor inventory and expense tracking for events, distributions, and garden/community projects in collaboration with key teams; Ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Experience in Bookkeeping or Accounting (non-profit sector preferred)
Proficient in basic office software (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, shared drives)
Proficient in bookkeeping software (i.e. QuickBooks)
Experience in database management (i.e. grant/donation tracking, vendor management)
Experience in non-profit financial management, administration, or related field (preferred)
Experience volunteering at our food distribution drive and/or food recovery team (preferred)
Reliable with a passion for sustainability and food justice
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must be eligible to work in the United States. This role does not provide Visa Sponsorship

Salary & Benefits
Part-Time: 5 - 10 hours per week, opportunity for additional hours as the organization grows
Pay Rate: $33 - $35 per hour
