Good Karma Gardens: Board of Directors—Announcements! Sept. 2026

External Relations, Good Karma Gardens Advisor

Growing Onward: Owen Braudrick!

A big thank you to Owen for three years of dedication to Good Karma Gardens! As he heads to San Francisco, he passes the torch to Liam.

Owen connected with Natalie Flores in the local garden and sustainability community, learned about Nourish LA, and a partnership was born. After joining the Board of Directors as External Relations for Good Karma Gardens, he expanded the program and is leaving a legacy of a dedicated volunteer team that manages and executes the GKG initiatives. We look foward to hearing about his new adventures and projects as he brings his wealth of knowledge to San Francisco.

Owen Braudrick

“It’s with a heavy heart that I am announcing that I will be stepping away from my seat on the Nourish LA board. My time alongside the dedicated volunteers of Nourish LA and the Good Karma Garden program has led to the most unforgettable moments of my life.

Over the course of the last three years of my involvement, this organization has exponentially grown its impact. Over this time Nourish has become one of the highest impact food rescue organizations in Los Angeles, now rescuing over a million pounds of food per year. Through the Good Karma Gardens program, we have built dozens of native pollinator and food producing gardens. These have been constructed in front yards, schools, at businesses, and even in parkways. Each of these projects have used existing resources in the Los Angeles Basin to increase the availability of green space for those who need it most.

I can’t wait to watch Nourish grow in the coming years. Its impact has already profoundly changed food access and equity across Los Angeles. Although I will be moving to San Francisco, this isn’t a farewell—it’s a see you later. I look forward to building more gardens (and spreading the good karma) in the bay area.”

Best,
Owen

Liam Hurley

Welcome Liam Hurley!

As Good Karma Gardens’ new External Relations Board member, he’s ready to keep growing the program and spreading the good karma.

As a member of the Good Karma Gardens volunteer team, Liam is a perfect fit for the hole that Owen left on the Board. Voted onto the Board in September 2026, we welcome Liam as the new External Relations, Good Karma Gardens member. As he joins the board, we introduce you to Liam Hurley and share his bio with the community.

Liam has loved spending time in the garden since he was a kid in Berkeley, California. He joined Good Karma Gardens in 2024 and is passionate about the impact urban farming can have on people's attitudes toward the world—and on our wellbeing.

A creative, driven, and curious person, Liam has a background in engineering. He worked at SpaceX for several years designing and manufacturing spacecraft. Liam currently develops, secures funding for, and manages air-emissions-reducing projects in ports across the West Coast. When he's not digging holes or engineering, Liam loves to play music and run in the mountains.
