Six Years of Sustenance: Celebrating Our Anniversary & Our Volunteers

Celebrating 6th Anniversary: Nourish LA

This April, Nourish LA reaches a milestone that fills our hearts with gratitude: our 6th Anniversary. Six years ago, we began with a simple belief that no surplus should go to waste while a neighbor goes hungry. What started as a grassroots effort has blossomed into a city-wide movement of food recovery, urban gardening, and community care. From our early days to our bustling distributions in Mar Vista and beyond, every bag of food shared has been a building block in the story of a more resilient Los Angeles.

The Heartbeat of Our Mission

It is no coincidence that April is also Global Volunteer Month. As we look back on six years of impact, we know one thing for certain: Nourish LA would not exist without you.

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of this organization. You are the drivers who rescue retail surplus, the organizers who braved the early morning sun to set up tables, and the friendly faces who ensure every recipient feels seen and supported. Whether you’ve been with us since 2020 or joined us just last week, you are the reason we can celebrate six years of service.

Growing Forward Together

As we blow out the candles on year six, we aren’t just looking back—we’re looking ahead. Our mission to scale food justice and expand our Good Karma Gardens is more vital than ever.

How you can celebrate with us this month:

  • Share Your Story: Have a favorite memory from a Nourish LA distribution? Tag us on social media or hit reply to this email!

  • Become a Sustaining Member: Help us ensure the next six years are even more impactful by setting up a monthly donation.

  • Join Us in the Field: There’s no better way to celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Month than by jumping into the action at our next Saturday distribution.

Thank you for six years of "Good Karma." Here’s to many more harvests shared and lives nourished.
